A&E failure to diagnose and treat infection leading to disfigurement – £35,000

Julia Langdon, 37, went to A&E several times within five days of injuring her elbow because she was concerned about the wound. She was finally diagnosed with a bacterial infection called necrotising fasciitis. She had to have emergency surgery to remove the dead skin tissue and clean the wound, followed by a skin graft. She was left with a disfigurement and restricted movement in her arm.
