Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford has received criticism from the Care Quality Commission (the government watchdog for healthcare) over the quality of its record keeping.
The report found that there were deficiencies in the nursing records for a number of patients across two wards, with inadequate records of fluid and food intake. Although it is understood that none of the patients involved in the study suffered as a result of the lack of proper records, these measurements are often of vital importance in measuring the wellbeing of a patient and the detection of complications of an illness.
